So, they got you on ChexSystems’ little list.  When you get on the radar of ChexSystems, checking might not seem so easy anymore… more like nearly impossible!  Maybe you went online, found the ChexSystems phone number, and gave them a call.  Didn’t turn out so well, did it?

Not that there’s much solace to be found in the fact, but you ought to know that you’re not alone.  Millions of people are in the same kind of boat as you.  And it might also make you just a little bit happier to know that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a sinking ship.  Sure, you’ll need to row that boat back to shore by yourself, but at least you won’t end up on the bottom of the lake.

 
Life is hard enough without ChexSystems checking up on you every time you make a transaction through your bank.  What good is it going to do you, having those bloodsuckers eyeballing the veins in your neck unbeknownst to you?  It’s important to be as informed as possible about all the potential pitfalls in life.  Of course, once it’s out of the bag, they’ll probably come up with a newer, even more secret organization to mess your life up even more.  But that’s what they do.  What you need to do is always get back up again in defiance.

Grow a Spine!

If you’ve checked up on their website, you’ll see that you can get a ChexSystems report free.  Our advice?  Get whatever you can get from them.  It won’t be much, but at least it will be something.  Get on the phone, call ChexSystem’s phone number, be as annoying to them as you possibly can be, and get as much information as you can out of them.  Seriously, it’s better than just sitting down and passively taking tremendous abuse.  Yes, you’ve bounced a check or two in your life.  Big deal!  The bank profited off you immensely, probably, and you’ve paid back the debt (hopefully), so what’s the point of them dragging you through the mud for 5 years?  It’s abusive and it stinks.

 
The next step, of course, is to only choose banks that are not affiliated with ChexSystems in the future.  And if you want to get really crazy about it, go right ahead.  You can go right down the chain and cut out every single business and organization which has any connection with ChexSystems at all.  Organize rallies, protests, and boycotts.  Send angry letters to your congressman.  Put out press releases and rack up as much muck as you are able to muster.  You probably won’t make much money doing it, but it’s definitely a better release for you anger than internalizing everything and raising your blood pressure dozens of points.

There are lots of banks out there that do not use ChexSystems checking history trackers on potential new customers.  They are a minority, which is ridiculous and indicative of the sad state of banking these days, but it’s a large minority.  By virtue of this issue alone, those banks that don’t use ChexSystems obviously exercise better judgement than any of those cookie-cutter criminal book-cookers at the ones which do.  Choose them!
